Varan Merten
Varan Merten is the author of The Hydra, the first in “The Hercules Cycle” books. His works seek to retell these timeless myths while including details often overlooked or providing unexpected twists to keep things fresh. Mr. Merten finds Greek Myths to be perfect reflections of our modern lives – they are both old and new, heroic and tragic, and with surprises around every turn.
Varan Merten was born in the American South. His roommate for many formative years was an albino Burmese Python, whose warm hugs and penchant for dramatic escapes helped plant the seeds for The Hydra. When not writing, Merten can be found sharing his dark sense of humor on friends’ podcasts or lost down a rabbit hole on Wikipedia.
